KHIDI USA said it would partner with Boston-based Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) to host a conference on "International Collaboration in Advancing Innovation and Development" at the upcoming Bio Korea 2024 Conference in COEX, Seoul, on May 10.

CIC is a builder and operator of a global network of innovation campuses, connecting startups, corporations, and public organizations to collaborate and grow. Founded in 1999, CIC manages more than 1.5 million square meters of innovation-focused workspace, research labs, and event space across North America, Europe, and Asia.

The conference, which aims to develop the Korean healthcare cluster and expand innovative collaboration between Korea and Boston, will consist of two parts: “Future Cooperation through Innovation Hubs” in Part 1 and “Finding the Key to Healthcare Innovation: Exploring Strategies for Korea-Boston Cooperation through Experience” in Part 2.

Part 1 will kick off with a keynote presentation by CIC Founder and CEO Tim Rowe, who will discuss his experience expanding the collaborative space from the U.S. to the rest of the world since CIC's inception, with a focus on innovation in the bio-health industry.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Ayano Kagami, Assistant Director of the CIC Institute, and will feature Ryu Eun-joo, COO of Dong-A America, which won the KHIDI’s support to “K-Blockbuster U.S. Entry Program,” and Woo Jung-hoon, CEO of BW Biomed LLC, which helps Korean companies expand into the U.S., who will share his experience doing business in the U.S.

In Part 2, experts from hospitals, universities, research centers, and companies that make up the bio cluster in Boston will share their experiences and know-how.

Park Soon-mahn, president of KHIDI USA, will lead the panel discussion. Panelists include Orum Therapeutics CEO Lee Sung-joo, Foley Hoag LLP Partner Yu Jeong-seok, Professor Lee Nam-gyu at Dankook University, and Professor Jung Sun-jae at Yonsei University College of Medicine.

“There are many challenges for Korean companies and researchers to enter the U.S.,” said Park Soon-mahn, president of KHIDI USA. “Through this conference, we will be able to share real-life research and business experiences and share experiences that will help them enter the U.S. in a practical way.”
