Malcolm (Mal) Sullivan - Community / Operations

What excites you most about CIC?

I love CIC’s vibrancy as a community and how ready everyone is to help each other and the world.

What's the most interesting conversation you've ever had with a CIC client?

I had a discussion on the feasibility of warp drive engines with a physicist, an engineer, and a statistician. They agreed that they’re moderately feasible in the next ten years which was pretty exciting.

How does working at CIC differ from other jobs you've had?

CIC’s different from other jobs I’ve had in that each of us are given responsibility, but also a high degree of autonomy. I always feel trusted to know my limits and to accomplish what I say I will.

What is your favorite hobby/what do you like to do in your free time?

When I’m not at CIC, I’m a photographer and editor.

Can you tell us about your team and how you work together?

As a team, we try to spend most of our down time in our office. It makes the team office a space to bounce ideas off each other, ask for help, celebrate our accomplishments, and brainstorm improvements. It also means that we have a lot of running jokes.

When did a colleague really impress you?

My colleagues impress me every day with their kindness, resourcefulness, and drive to help the world.
