Bring your laptop and programming skills to this 2 hour workshop, where you will create custom apps, known as "Skills", on the Amazon Alexa platform. At the end of this event, attendees will have what they need to create their own custom Alexa Skills that can run on the Amazon Echo, Dot, and other devices that utilize the Alexa API.
Due to the accelerated pace, this meeting is for individuals with some programming experience.
Alexa Solutions Architect at Amazon, Robert McCauley will demonstrate how to program Alexa, leverage Amazon's AI engine, and design voice applications in general.
• If you have never used AWS, you will learn how.
• Prefer your own hosting? You will also learn how to use your own host instead of Amazon's cloud.
• You will also learn how to publish your skills to the world or private groups.
• If you don't have an Alexa unit, you will learn how to code & test without one. You will also learn how to possibly win a free device.
Alexa, the voice service that powers Amazon Echo, provides capabilities, or skills, that enable customers to interact with devices in a more intuitive way using voice. Examples of skills include the ability to play music, answer general questions, set an alarm or timer, and more.
The Alexa Skills Kit is a collection of self-service APIs, tools, documentation and code samples that make it fast and easy for you to add skills to Alexa.
