In today's world, we face a constant flood of sensory input. Car horns, construction, cell phones, music, advertisements and the list goes on. As we try to find presence at the moment and focus on our work, we often encounter what feels like an endless distraction. Over the course of a day, all of the chaotic noise and interaction can become a source of ambient frustration and anxiety. This talk will explore and present tools of mindfulness and “micro-meditation” that we can employ to quickly return to a state of calm focus through the daily distractions. We will be taking a look at the function of focus in the brain and learning ways to activate calm attention at a moment's notice.
