Healthcare Interop Meetup: Azure on FHIR

  • CIC Cambridge - Cloud City, 14th floor 101 Main Street Cambridge, MA 02142 (map)

FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) is quickly becoming the standard for RESTful healthcare interoperability.

Many healthcare organizations, technology service providers and architects/developers are increasingly starting to invest time into FHIR.

When we Google the term FHIR, we get a ton of information; but the information can sometimes be a bit overwhelming. As healthcare IT professionals, it is essential that we understand the FHIR model and its various API conventions, be able to spin up a FHIR server and, in particular, be able to answer the question “how does FHIR fit with the cloud strategies” especially when everything is heading towards the cloud.

Thankfully, the people at Microsoft and Azure are not staying idle in this matter. They are making a lot of resources available for us, and providing the building blocks needed to get started quickly.

Come join the latest gathering of the Healthcare Interop Boston Meetup group for a presentation by Ahsan Alam, president and consultant with Symmetric Enterprise Solutions, Inc.

In this session, we will look at how to leverage “Azure API for FHIR” to get started and take advantage of the following out of box features:

- Management of protected healthcare data on the cloud
- Enterprise grade and high-performance infrastructure
- Role-based access control (RBAC) for data
- Audit logs and tracking to support compliance requirements

We will also cover additional useful information that will help developers get their hands dirty with FHIR and Azure at the same time.

Ahsan started his career as a heads-down coder primarily using Microsoft technologies. Over the span of 20 plus years, he has ventured into pattern-oriented enterprise solution design and development and has become more focused on solving business challenges within the Healthcare and Life Sciences’ domain with integrated solutions in order to bridge the gap between the business processes and a wide range of distributed systems.
