The Miami Climate Alliance and the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE) are teaming up on the night of Tuesday June 12th to host NASA scientist Tim Hall (bio below) who is an expert on hurricanes, public policy, and insurance risk. We have also invited the New Tropic and Radical Partners to join us as a co-host for this important hurricane-season kickoff event.
Dr. Hall will travel to Florida on 6/10. He will speak at the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council regular meeting on Monday 6/11 which runs 10 am - 12 noon. The TBRPC is made up of elected officials from 6 counties and 20+ cities. That is where the Tampa Bay Regional Resiliency Compact is being developed. Here's an op-edthat The Tampa Bay Time printed by Susan Glickman (SACE FL Director) and the TBRPC Chair for some background. He will also be speaking in Broward, Palm Beach and Orange Counties.
For the Miami Dade event, we get to set the agenda and public policy around hurricanes and insurance is high on our list of topics. We wanted to open up the event to be more of a discussion and workshoppy feel with key players from city, county, chambers, and insurance joining us.
