National Day of Civic Hacking 2018 | Code for Miami

Join Code for Miami for the 6th annual National Day of Civic Hacking, and help us #HackForChange!

Government works best when it’s government by the People. On August 11th, join Code for Miami and the Code for America Brigades as we host National Day of Civic Hacking –a nationwide day of action.

Miami’s own Urban Impact Lab, a company dedicated to helping shape and inspire citizen-driven cities will start the morning off with a civics 101 training, something necessary for anyone trying to get involved and make a difference in their community.

During this event we will hear from local civic organizations making a huge impact like Miami Transit AllianceVolunteerCleanup.org, the Miami Foundation’s Public Space Challenge and more. Participants will get a chance to interact and work with leaders of these groups and work on challenges with the help of the experts.

Everyone -- developers, volunteers, designers, and civic-minded folks will have a chance to learn about how these groups got their start, what challenges they face, and how they use data and technology to answer to the social-problems they're working towards helping to solve.

The afternoon will focus on running through the necessary steps central to project planning, user research, and and community organizing. This will serve as a great crash course in how to get more involved in!
