Quantopian Meetup: The PyData Toolbox

  • CIC Boston, Anchor Event Space, Ground Floor 50 Milk Street Boston, MA, 02109 United States (map)

Join us for our meetup with Quantopian's Quantopian's Senior Engineer, Scott Sanderson.  He will be presenting "The PyData Toolbox".  As always there will be pizza and beer -  RSVP here!

The PyData Toolbox

Python's success as a data analysis language is due in large part to the strength of its ecosystem for scientific computing. Though we've seen an explosion of domain-specific tools in the PyData space over the last few years, nearly all of these tools are built on a small set of foundational libraries: Numpy, Pandas, Matplotlib, and Jupyter.

In this talk, we'll take a whirlwind tour of these core libraries, providing a conceptual overview of how each library works and what problems each library aims to solve. Examples will be drawn from financial applications, but the tools and techniques discussed are to any quantitative domain.

Scott Sanderson

Scott Sanderson is a Senior Engineer at Quantopian, where he is responsible for the design and implementation of Quantopian's core backtesting and researchAPIs. He is a core maintainer of Zipline, Quantopian's open source backtesting library and is a regular contributor to several projects in the PyData ecosystem.
