JAPAN SOCIETY PRESENTS:
Tadoku and Japanese Language Learning
Join Japan Society for a Brown Bag discussion with Professor Atsuko Takahashi about Tadoku, a method of learning Japanese that is gaining popularity in universities across the United States!
"Tadoku," or extensive reading (from"Ta" (多) "a lot" and "doku" （読）"to read"), simply means reading a lot of easy and interesting books without the use of a dictionary or vocabulary list. This study method is a great way to build fluency and a rich vocabulary of words and phrases one might not encounter in the classroom, all while gaining a love for the Japanese language. Come learn about the four "golden rules" used in Tadoku, and how Professor Takahashi incorporates Tadoku in her teachings at Smith College.
