Building Factory Town: Developing & Marketing a Complex Simulation Game

A wide variety of useful game design patterns and optimization techniques that were learned during the multi-year development of Factory Town, specifically focusing on challenges that arise in data-heavy games with lots of moving pieces. Also covers some tips about pre-release community-building & Steam store page configuration to maximize chances of launch day success.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Erik Asmussen has been developing games on a solo basis for nearly a decade, including Factory Town (currently in Early Access) and Robot Roller-Derby Disco Dodgeball, both top-selling games on Steam, as well as a number of significantly-less-than-top-selling games on iOS. He is part of the Boston Indie Game Collective, a collaborative group of local independent game developers.
