Today, Providence Business News announced that Stacey Messier, CIC’s General Manager (GM) of New England, has been named the 2024 Rising Star as part of its 2024 C-Suite Awards. Messier is among 12 executives from the public, private and nonprofit sectors being honored by the publication for their efforts as innovators, community leaders and role models.
Messier, who previously served as the GM of CIC Providence and now leads the region as GM of New England, is recognized for her accomplishments and passionate leadership designing innovation ecosystems and transforming customer and employee experiences at CIC. Not only did she play a major role in attracting new innovation campus clients and growing the CIC clientbase in the wake of the pandemic, but she has worked to develop a dynamic offshore wind community – consisting of 30+ organizations – at CIC Providence, making it the largest offshore wind hub in the U.S. today. CIC’s vibrant offshore wind cluster comprises an ecosystem of renewable energy orgs, and plays an important role in fostering economic development, creating high-paying, in-demand jobs, and promoting environmental justice and equity throughout New England.
Thanks in part to her leadership, Messier’s leadership across New England has helped CIC’s Innovation Campuses in Boston, Cambridge and Providence rebound post-pandemic with record-breaking growth in inquiries and sales. By early 2023, occupancy levels not only returned but surpassed pre-pandemic levels, with CIC Providence growing the fastest. Messier has also been an integral part of the sales efforts in the organization’s Massachusetts campuses in Cambridge and Boston. With her leadership, sales efforts in Massachusetts have shown immense growth with January 2024 sales efforts showing 40% growth year over year.
“It is an honor to play a role in growing and supporting New England’s innovation economy where groundbreaking work is happening day in day out. At CIC, we strive to cultivate optimal environments and programming, empowering startups, scale-ups, corporations and public entities to address the most pressing global challenges of our time,” said Messier. “Innovation is only as strong as the ecosystem of leaders and changemakers within it, so I want to also acknowledge all the impressive and important game-changing work being done in and around the Greater Providence area.”
Beyond her work with the offshore wind hub and CIC clients at large, Messier’s leadership also extends to CIC’s DEIB-focused efforts through which CIC Providence and CIC Massachusetts have created impactful programming and partnerships that support the community, such as the MA Social Impact Program.
