The new ZEISS lab space at CIC Philadelphia offers scientists access to more than $1M in total value in microscopy equipment
CIC, a global leader in building and operating innovation communities, today announced the opening of the ZEISS Microscopy Solutions Center in partnership with ZEISS, a global leader in microscopy solutions. The new lab space – located at the CIC Labs & Innovation Campus in Philadelphia – offers state-of-the-art equipment and expertise to scientists in the region.
This development, which began earlier this year, is part of a multi-year agreement with ZEISS to provide CIC Philadelphia with cutting-edge end-to-end workflow imaging solutions. The million-dollar ZEISS portfolio available to CIC clients includes advanced automated solutions, an in-demand confocal microscope and AI-based image analysis toolkit. This cutting-edge equipment greatly enhances the capabilities of scientists in the greater Tri State area who are strengthening groundbreaking research focused on cellular therapeutics, oncology, autoimmune conditions, and inflammatory diseases, offering capabilities that few other shared facilities can match.
“We are thrilled to expand our state-of-the-art laboratory capabilities with the launch of this ZEISS Microscopy Solutions Center at CIC. This partnership will provide our community with unparalleled access to advanced microscopy solutions and AI-powered image analysis, significantly enhancing the potential for scientific discovery,” said Michelle Ottey, PhD, Vice President of Labs and Campuses at CIC. “By bringing these cutting-edge tools to the Philadelphia life sciences ecosystem, we’re empowering scientists to push the boundaries of innovation and accelerate their research efforts.”
A dedicated full-time ZEISS staff member will be based in the lab space to manage and operate the equipment as an extension of CIC’s lab operations team. This expert ensures the smooth operation of the instruments while providing invaluable support to CIC clients, assisting them in data analysis and interpretation to support their innovations.
“Our collaboration with CIC is a perfect alignment of shared values—fostering innovation and driving scientific progress. The new lab at CIC Philadelphia will enable scientists to access our advanced imaging solutions, including our confocal microscopy and AI-based analysis tools, allowing them to visualize, analyze, and interpret data like never before,” added Vimal Gangadharan PhD, Head of Growth Marketing & Apps Dev, ZEISS. “We are excited to support the research community at CIC and contribute to the acceleration of scientific breakthroughs that will impact human health and beyond.”
The CIC and ZEISS partnership aims to empower hundreds of scientists within CIC’s community to delve deeper into their projects, unlocking new avenues of discovery and innovation. It also highlights the shared commitment to driving innovation and fostering collaboration within the Philadelphia life science community and beyond.
CIC’s Labs & Innovation Campus in Philadelphia features state-of-the-art, turn-key laboratories and office spaces with all the amenities and equipment that allow scientists to develop solutions to some of the greatest challenges in the health and life sciences fields. This includes 450 benches across four floors of wet lab space. The agreement complements CIC Philadelphia’s robust sponsorship program, which provides scientists located on-site with access to more than $5M in shared lab equipment.
