Social Impact at CIC Philadelphia
CIC’s mission is to fix the world through innovation. We believe in empowering local communities to work towards solving some of the world’s toughest challenges. More than 33% of our clients identify as being mission-driven or social impact.
Social impact touches all areas of our community and economy. To us, having a positive impact means leveraging your local lens to think globally and act locally. A balance of local and global priorities and perspectives allow entrepreneurs to collaborate across continents for solutions needed close to home. CIC is both a global network of thousands of entrepreneurs as well as a local Philadelphia community, both of which you have access to engage. Being a member of CIC means you’re interested in helping to make the world a better place, and we’re excited to be a part of your journey.
Our Social Impact Cohort
The Social Impact Cohort of 2020 is designed to nurture a small group of organizations by providing discounted space, dedicated programming, resources, and networking opportunities to accelerate impact right here in Philadelphia.
We are proud to collaborate with the following organizations:
Many of these companies work alongside one another in a branded neighborhood that allows for the most collaboration and learning opportunities from each other. In addition, CIC brings in specific and relevant programming available for the whole community: office hours with industry experts, roundtables with non-profit founders, mentorship opportunities, event and resource opportunities, and access to Quorum programming.
Neighborhood Partnerships & CIC Initiatives
CIC is always looking to build strategic partnerships with local non-profit and social impact organizations. We often work with other Philadelphia-based agencies like The Enterprise Center, Good Company Ventures, University City District, Dornsife Center, and REC Philly.
All catering orders made by CIC are within a five mile radius of our site. We love to support our local food vendors such as 12th Street Catering, Lokal Artisan, El Merkury, Schmear It, Simply Good Jar, Really Real Ginger, Birdies Biscuits, and The Study.
In our kitchens we source snacks locally whenever possible, including loose leaf teas from House of Tea in Chinatown, and coffee from Philly Fair Trade. We also intentionally purchase bulk products to reduce waste, compost organic materials, and provide resources and information for clients on how to properly recycle electronics.
Venture Cafe is a nonprofit organization that spun out of CIC. Their mission is to bring innovators, entrepreneurs, and resources together which they do through their Weekly Gatherings every Thursday from 3-8pm. The event is free and open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend to participate in sessions and organically network within the ecosystem.
