JETRO Brings its Global Acceleration Hub to CIC

Opening the door for a direct connection to Japan

CAMBRIDGE, MA–The Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC), the leading coworking and office space provider, is happy to announce a partnership with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO). This partnership connects Japanese companies with CIC’s extensive resources within the Boston startup and innovation community by way of the JETRO Global Acceleration Hub. Additionally, current CIC members gain access to similar resources if they are considering an expansion into Japan.

“This partnership is the result of numerous projects that stem from CIC’s mission of fixing the world through innovation,” says CIC CEO, Tim Rowe. To this end, CIC is pleased to provide free coworking space to companies accepted into the program through March 2019. There are considerable resources available for companies based in Japan looking to relocate to the Boston area. Additionally, Japanese companies who come to CIC will receive mentoring support from experienced entrepreneurs in the Boston area, as well as introductions to venture capitalists, investors, and corporate connections.

“We [CIC + JETRO] are here to support U.S.-based companies that want to expand into Japan, as well as Japanese businesses expanding to the Greater Boston area,” says Lia Camargo, responsible for CIC’s Japan Partnerships. CIC has worked with JETRO to provide CIC members with resources to facilitate the setup of Japanese operations. These resources include relocation assistance, human resource and accounting support, as well as potential state-level benefits, should a company qualify. There will be upcoming lunch and learn sessions for CIC members interested in learning more at CIC’s Cambridge location.
